Prop Bets: San Diego Padres VS Los Angeles Angels 2026-04-17

"The Angels Need a Walk to Stay Alive—Literally"

The San Diego Padres (13-6) enter this clash with an eight-game winning streak, but don’t let that fool you—they’re just riding the coattails of Jose Soriano, who’s as reliable as a broken umbrella in a hurricane (4-0, 0.33 ERA). The Los Angeles Angels (10-10), meanwhile, are clinging to the AL West like a fan at a playoff game, and their best hope? Mike Trout, who’s already walked 18 times this season—more than some teams’ entire lineups.

The Pitcher Prop That Could Break Hearts:
Matt Waldron (4.86 ERA) faces Soriano, and let’s be honest, Waldron’s ERA is about as trustworthy as a used car salesman. He’s allowed 2.7 walks per game, and Trout, who’s walked more times than he’s hit a home run (18 walks vs. 5 HRs), is betting on it. The prop bet: Trout to draw at least one walk (-115). Take it. Waldron’s control is a sieve.

Why the Angels Might Still Win?
They lead MLB in wRC+ (118) while the Padres rank 15th (102). But let’s not forget: the Padres’ lineup includes Xander Bogaerts (10 RBIs in 10 games) and Fernando Tatis Jr., who’s hitting .551. The Angels’ Jorge Soler leads MLB in RBIs (18), but he’s facing Soriano, who’s struck out 31 in four starts.

The Verdict:
This is a classic case of “hot hand vs. warm jitters.” The Angels are favored (-136), but Soriano’s ERA (0.33) is so low, it’s practically a secret society. Still, don’t be surprised if Trout’s 19th walk of the season ends up being the game’s most memorable moment.

Final Score Prediction:
Padres 5, Angels 3. Trout walks. Waldron gets roasted. The Angels fall further behind.

Place your bets on Trout’s walk prop. It’s a sure thing—unless Waldron’s ERA is involved. 🎲⚾
